"They try to tell me that God ain’t real,
And a chain of big explosions is why I’m here,
And an ape decided he wanted to walk upright,
And leave the others apes in the jungle cuz he that tight"

She said its ok - Blu

Emma.

Meet Emma. Sunday morning, 8:15, she’s in the same tube carriage as me, making her way to work as an arts & crafts teacher in north London. I look to my left and catch a glimpse of her, and I’m amazed at how pretty she is.

It was only after I got off the tube that I realised I should have asked her for a photo to add to my music/photo/everydayness blog…Anyway, I make my way to another platform to catch another tube, and guess who appears on the same platform….Emma!

We end up in the same carriage again (yessssss), and at this point, I tell myself that if I don’t talk to her now, I’ll be kicking myself for the rest of the day.

So I took my headphones off, grabbed my camera, stared at it for a good minute, and then finally told her that she had a beautiful face and wondered if I could take her picture.

I was nervous at this point, (I’ve never actually asked a stranger to do this before) but she said ok! So I fumbled around with the cam, took a few snaps, but because I was such a nervous wreck, I didn’t get the sharpest of images of the lovely lady, pretty frustrating. Well we continued to have a nice chat about photography, holidays, dreaded early mornings before eventually going separate ways.

Thanks Emma, maybe we’ll cross paths again..

D’Angelo - O2 Brixton Academy, Fri 3 Feb ‘11

This Friday, I will be attending what is sure to be one of the best live music performances this year. My friend (soulo89) and I will be watching the man they call D’Angelo. I honestly can’t wait, and will make sure I am present at the front of the venue with camera in hand! Im looking forward to how he and his band (which I’m sure will include Questlove) play some of those classics live. Below are the 4 songs I’m looking forward to most:

Send It On - Theres no mistaking what song you’re listening to when you hear the horns come in on the intro

Cruisin’ - Play this on a random road trip somewhere. I prefer this to Smokey Robinson’s original. I mean, how smooth can your voice be

Higher - A gospel love song, says it all.

Untitled (How Does It Feel) - An epic track which, if it isn’t performed on Friday, will make me very upset.
